Mining Company Strikes Gold with VoIP Communications

Kinross Gold Logo rev1Kinross is a multi-billion dollar, NYSE traded gold mining company with operations in nine mines located in four key regions: South America, North America, West Africa and Russia.

Located in the middle of the desolate Nevada Intermountain Plateaus, and 60 miles from the nearest town, Kinross Mining’s Round Mountain gold-mining location demanded a redundant, highly reliable voice system for over 200 users that would integrate with their Cisco network. Their old AT&T system was at its end-of-life, and servicing was getting increasingly difficult. With over 200 users spread out over many square miles, and with many of the operations supporting dangerous operations, the prospect of long phone system outages could be life-threatening. In addition to the phone system itself, Kinross discovered that Team One Solutions could provision and support its requirements for an integrated data network as well. Team One designed and installed a large (200+user) Cisco Call Manager VoIP system and Cisco Catalyst network switches for the Round Mountain mining operation. This complete upgrade and replacement voice and data network was completed in 2012 and includes both fixed and wireless voice and data systems. We also provisioned a major upgrade for the Kinross IBM SystemX servers at this site.

Whether your organization is in the middle of the city, out in the wilds, or in between, Team One Solutions can engineer and implement a robust communications system for whatever requirements you have.
